The former racetrack, Golden Gate Fields, has the potential to become a huge new shoreline park with open space, walking trails, and restored natural habitats along the East Bay shoreline.
At this meeting, we will hear from Brennan Cox and Michael Boland, two landscape design professionals offering design concepts to consider for the property's future.
What would you like to see happen to the property? Come learn about the status of the project and what advocacy options you can be a part of while there’s still time for input to be considered from the landscape and design professionals, environmental advocates, and engaged local residents.
About our presenters:
Brennan Cox is a landscape architect, urban designer, and founding partner of Groundworks Office. His work explores how landscape can strengthen communities, restore ecology, and create enduring public places. He is currently advocating for a bold public vision for Golden Gate Fields, reimagining the Bay shoreline for future generations.
Michael Boland, FASLA. For over three decades, Michael Boland has driven the development and stewardship of parks. In his most recent role as Chief Park Officer for the Presidio Trust, Boland led the transformation of the historic Presidio Army base into a unique financially self-sufficient national park for all. His work includes restoration of natural and cultural landscapes like Crissy Field, the establishment of national park experiences serving urban youth and their families, and the creation of comprehensive visitor infrastructure such as the recently opened Presidio Tunnel Tops. Boland has a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, a Master of Landscape Architecture degree, and a Master of City Planning degree, all from UC Berkeley, and is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
